Event Description

This is one of AFT signature AL Hajar challenge series hikes.

This is one of our signature challenge hikes – a remote and rugged trail we’ve been exploring and mapping for several years, and now opening to the public for 2d time for this season.

If you’re looking for a true challenge in a remote, untouched part of the UAE, this one is for you.

– Meet at / near the hike start point at the Event Time (as mentioned above).
– 10-minute buffer for check-in and late arrivals.
– Convoy / short drive to the hike start point exactly 15 minutes after the Event Time.
– Briefing, introductions, and gear check at the hike start point.
– Hike begins shortly after the briefing (within 10 minutes).
– Event finish time is approximate hike end time (finish time may vary slightly, depending on group pace and trail conditions)

Little over an hour and half drive from Dubai. Located in Ras Al Khaimah.

DURATION: +/- 8 hours
START POINT ELEVATION: 200 m
ELEVATION GAIN : +/- 1000 m
HIGHEST POINT ELEVATION : +/- 900 m

TERRAIN: Off-road track, steep donkey trail, plenty of loose rocks

INTERMEDIATE PLUS 7/10 level hike is ONLY for most regular hikers of AFT that have been training with us over the past years, those with extensive local hiking experience, and those who have complete hiking kit, including hiking-specific boots, backpack with waist, shoulder, and chest straps. The attendees must be able to carry up to 8kg pack for the duration of the event.

Participants must meet the “Who Can Join” requirements and bring the proper gear listed under “What to Bring.” Otherwise, we reserve the right to deny participation, and the booking fee may not be refunded.

– A small backpack with cushioned shoulder and waist straps (strictly NO gym/school bags)
– Mid to high-cut hiking boots (mandatory)
– Hydration bladder (mandatory)
– Energy bars and snacks
– Loosely fitted hiking trousers and shirt
– Water 4 liters and hydration drinks (sports water)
– Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
– Headlamp (mandatory)
– Hiking poles (highly recommended)

Any car can reach the hike start point, 4x4s / SUVs are not mandatory.

Carpooling is organized among confirmed participants via a WhatsApp group. While we do our best to help you find a ride, carpooling availability cannot be guaranteed. If you are unable to find a carpool partner, the full cost of the hike will be refunded.

WhatsApp group will be created 24-36 hours before event for confirmed participants where you might be able to find a ride partner.
