The Machame Route, also known as the Whiskey Route, is one of Kilimanjaro’s most iconic and visually stunning trails. It’s perfect for trekkers who want a true mountain adventure with diverse landscapes, steady acclimatization, and unforgettable views.
This route takes you through lush rainforests, towering ridgelines, giant heather zones, and the otherworldly landscapes of Shira Plateau and Lava Tower – all before the final push to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 m.
With its “climb high, sleep low” profile, Machame offers excellent acclimatization and one of the highest success ratesamong challenging routes. It’s ideal for those seeking a mix of beauty, physical challenge, and transformative mountain experience.

Payment Schedule:
– AED 2,000 non-refundable deposit upon booking

DAY 1 (MAY 23): ARRIVE IN TANZANIA.
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your
hotel in Moshi town. You will meet your guide who will brief you on your upcoming trek and do an equipment check to make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. The missing gear can be rented on this day.
DAY 2 (MAY 24): MACHAME GATE (1790M) TO MACHAME CAMP (3010M)
DAY 3 (MAY 25): MACHAME CAMP (3010M) TO SHIRA CAMP (3845M)
DAY 4 (MAY 26): SHIRA CAVE (3845M) TO BARRANCO CAMP (3960M)
DAY 5 (MAY 27): BARRANCO CAMP (3960M) TO KARANGA CAMP (3963M)
DAY 6 (MAY 28): KARANGA CAMP (3963) TO BARAFU CAMP (4640M)
DAY 7 (MAY 29): BARAFU CAMP (4640M) TO UHURU PEAK (5895M) & DOWN TO MILLENNIUM CAMP (3790M) OR MWEKA CAMP (3100M)
DAY 8 (MAY 30): TREK MILLENNIUM CAMP (3790M) TO MWEKA GATE (1630M)
DAY 9 (MAY 31): DEPART TANZANIA. The day is left free to wind down after the trek before your flight home. Depending on flight times you could go and explore Moshi town and grab some gifts shop before heading to the airport.
