Event Description
Explore a rocky wadi and follow a mountain goat trail along dramatic cliff walls, with spectacular views leading to the Hidden Oasis of Sal Shahha in the UAE’s Hajar Mountains. Discover a historic agricultural site that transforms into a lush green paradise during the winter months and after heavy rainfall.
The hike begins with a walk through a rocky wadi before connecting to a mountain goat trail that climbs along dramatic cliff walls, offering spectacular views of the surrounding Hajar Mountains. Our destination is the Hidden Oasis of Sal Shahha, a secluded piece of agricultural land in the UAE traditionally used by the Shahhoo (Shahhi) tribe to grow date palms, figs and grass for their livestock.
During the peak winter months and following heavy rainfall, this hidden oasis can transform into a lush green paradise. Discover a lesser-known side of the UAE’s mountain landscape, where rugged terrain meets a rich agricultural heritage.
This hike is located on the way to the highest mountain in UAE and in the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah. Drive time from Dubai to hike start point is 1 hour & 30 minutes.
