Leave the city lights behind and experience the Hajar Mountains after dark. Follow winding trails through quiet valleys, watch the landscape shift from daylight to dusk, and discover the mountains in a different light. Where conditions allow, we’ll switch off our headlamps and let the moonlight lead the way.
A special AFT night hiking experience – slower, quieter, and a little different.
This special AFT night hiking experience begins in the afternoon and unfolds into the evening, taking us through the changing light of the Hajar Mountains.
We’ll follow mountain trails as daylight fades and the landscape gradually gives way to the quiet of night. The experience goes beyond a regular night hike: where the terrain and conditions allow, we’ll switch off our headlamps for a while, let our eyes adjust to the darkness, and enjoy the mountains by moonlight.
It’s an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with the natural environment, and experience the familiar landscape from a different perspective – with less artificial light and more time to appreciate the night sky.
The hike takes place in Ras Al Khaimah, approximately a 2-hour drive from Dubai. Further details will be shared with registered participants in a dedicated WhatsApp group.
INTERMEDIATE – LEVEL 5/10
This hike is suitable for physically fit hikers of AFT, those with basic local hiking experience. Participants should be active and comfortable with hikes lasting upto 6 hours. No technical skills are required, although participants must be able to carry a backpack weighing up to 6 kg for the duration of hike.
Physically active beginners and children aged 14 and above are welcome to join.

The list below is a general guide to help you prepare for the hike. Final recommendations may vary depending on the route and weather conditions and will be shared with confirmed participants before the event.
Please make sure to bring the following essentials:
– A small backpack with cushioned shoulder and waist straps
– Mid- to high-cut hiking boots or hiking shoes with good grip
– Energy bars and snacks
– At least 3 litres of water, plus electrolytes/hydration drinks
– Comfortable, loose-fitting hiking trousers and a shirt
– Sun protection: hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
– Headlamp with spare batteries (mandatory)
– Hiking poles (recommended)
An 8 km mountain dirt track is part of the drive to the starting point. Although regular cars can manage this section, an SUV is recommended. Coming in a regular car? No worries! We’ll help arrange a seat for you with someone driving a 4×4 for this short off-road section.
Carpooling is coordinated among confirmed participants through a dedicated WhatsApp group. While we do our best to help participants find a ride, carpooling availability cannot be guaranteed.
A WhatsApp group will be created 24-36 hours before the event for confirmed participants, where you may be able to find a ride partner. If you are unable to find a suitable carpool option, the full cost of the hike will be refunded.
All first-time participants must complete the AFT Waiver & Emergency Information Forms, which will be sent after payment is received.
Participants must carry their Emirates ID or a copy of their passport with them during the hike.

Signing up or expressing interest through social media, messaging apps or any other platform does not guarantee your spot. Your place is confirmed only after completing the booking and payment through the AFT website.
Registration usually closes approximately 24 hours before the hike starts. However, as spaces are limited, registration may close earlier once the hike reaches full capacity. We strongly recommend booking early to secure your place.
