Event Description
Walk through dramatic wadi trails to an abandoned village, explore ancient ruins, and end the evening with a sunset BBQ, live cooking, and a cozy bonfire with s’mores.
For those who want, stay out under the stars and fully soak in the wilderness. A perfect mix of adventure, history, nature, and simple moments with good company.
The adventure begins in the local village of Haqeel, where the team will follow a scenic wadi (riverbed) for most of the hike. Along the winding trail, you’ll discover fascinating rock formations, local flora, and fauna, before arriving at the abandoned village of pottery makers. Here, you can explore the historical ruins and learn about the culture and stories of this long-lost settlement.
As the sun sets over the Hajar Mountains, the experience continues with a BBQ dinner, live cooking, and a cozy bonfire. For those who want to fully immerse themselves in the outdoors, optional camping is available, allowing you to spend the night under the stars, soak in the quiet of the mountains, and wake up to a peaceful morning in nature.
End the evening roasting s’mores, sharing stories, and enjoying the warmth of the fire, making this a perfect blend of nature, history, adventure, and relaxed outdoor fun – whether you’re here just for the evening or for the full camping experience.
This hike is suitable for Beginners Plus level hikers (4/10) and above who have a love for wilderness and nature. Young explorers (14+) are welcome if accompanied by an adult and confident on uneven terrain. Even if you have little hiking experience, you’re welcome to join – whether you want to try camping for the first time or simply enjoy a relaxed BBQ dinner after the hike.
This hike is for anyone who wants to step away from the noise and pace of everyday life, recharge in the mountains, and reconnect with nature. It’s a chance to breathe, slow down, and gain clarity, all while sharing the trail with like-minded people and making simple but meaningful memories.
In the Emirates of Ras al Khaimah, about an hour and half drive distance from Dubai this is a beautiful mountain with breathtaking views deep inside the Wadi Haqeel. This abandoned historical village walk takes you back to the times when life was much simpler and purer in every sense.
