Wadi Nahela | Caves of Baqal Hike

The hike starts with easy walk through a Wadi (valley) full of boulders and passes through some abandoned stone houses. This trail continues to gradually climb up along the wadi and leads us to the hidden Caves of Baqal. We will enjoy exploring the 3 Caves that lay next to each other and have our long break here before we turn around. This is one of the many signature trails of AFT Mountain Adventures that we have introduced to the UAE hiking community.

BEGINNERS PLUS 4/10 level hike is suitable for physically fit beginner hikers of AFT, those with basic local hiking experience and. The attendees must be able to walk with a 4 to 5 kg pack for the duration of the hike. Although the hike will get you a good workout but this level does not include any technical terrain or exposed parts to climb.

Suitable for kids above 10 years too. Attendees must be able to carry up to 5kg pack for the duration of the event.

This hike is located in the Emirates of Ras Al Khaimah. Drive time from Dubai to hike start point is about 1 hour & 30 minutes. Drive time from RAK City is about 45 minutes.

– A small backpack (25-35 L)
– Mid to high-cut hiking boots or joggers with good grip

– Warm layer (recommended, it can be chilly in the evening)

– Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
– Energy bars and snacks
– Headlamp with spare batteries (mandatory)

Although any car can reach the hike start point, 4x4s or SUVs are recommended. If you’re coming with a regular car, don’t worry, we’ll help you arrange a seat with someone driving a 4×4 for the short off-road stretch.

Carpooling is organized among confirmed participants via a WhatsApp group. While we do our best to help you find a ride, carpooling availability cannot be guaranteed. If you are unable to find a carpool partner, the full cost of the hike will be refunded.

WhatsApp group will be created 24-36 hours before event for confirmed participants where you might be able to find a ride partner.
