Hike & Abseiling | Level Intermediate

– Meet at / near the event start point at the Event Time (as mentioned above).
– 10-minute buffer for check-in and late arrivals.
– Convoy / short drive to the event start point exactly 15 minutes after the Event Time.
– Briefing, introductions, and gear check at the event start point.
– Event begins shortly after the briefing (within 10 minutes).
– Event finish time is approximate (finish time may vary slightly, depending on group pace and trail conditions)

In the Emirates of RAK (Jebel Jais).

Duration: +/- 11 hours (with hike & training session)
Start elevation: 750 m
Elevation gain: +/- 250 m
Elevation loss: +/- 450 m
Total distance: +/- 7km (out & back)

Due to the nature of the terrain and abseiling, this canyoning experience is not recommended for individuals with a fear of heights!

INTERMEDIATE 5-6/10 level hike and abseiling adventure is suitable for physically fit hikers of AFT, those with basic local hiking and abseiling experience. The attendees must be able to walk with a 4 to 5 kg pack for the duration of the hike.

– Mid to high cut hiking boots (no joggers)

– Stretchable hiking clothing. Avoid jeans, tank top and shorts (due to sharp rocks)
– Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
– Headlamp with extra batteries
– Gloves (half-finger gym gloves)
– Wet wipes

4×4 cars or SUVs are NOT mandatory. Any car can reach the hike start point.

Carpooling is organized among confirmed participants via a WhatsApp group. While we do our best to help you find a ride, carpooling availability cannot be guaranteed. If you are unable to find a carpool partner, the full cost of the hike will be refunded.

WhatsApp group will be created 24-36 hours before event for confirmed participants where you might be able to find a ride partner.
